Trospium chloride is a tropane derivative (3α-nortropanol benzene acid ester) and an anticholinergic (antispasmolytic) agent. This is used to treat urge and reflex incontinence (e.g. overactive bladder). This is achieved by the competitive blockage of acetylcholine on their receptors. This inhibits the parasympathetic influence, smooth muscles, heart muscle and parts of the peripheral nervous system.
